Just like the butterfly, I too will awaken in my own time. --Deborah Chaskin
I am a psychodynamic counselor working with individuals, couples, children and adolescents. I have a private practice in NE Portland.
I hold a Master's Degree in Counseling from George Fox University, and I have done extensive specialty training in Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, and Art Therapy techniques. I enjoy using symbolic work in the therapeutic process, and am comfortable exploring deeply felt emotions and beliefs.
In addition to my counseling practice, I currently teach Psychology and Humanities Through the Arts at the college level.
My approach is warm and nurturing, with a good dose of humor. I genuinely love people and tend to see their best qualities and potentials even when they have lost sight of those necessary elements. I will work with you or your child to gain insight and confidence in your ability to release long-standing pain and negative patterns. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to your or your child's specific needs. I will support you in building on your strengths and attaining the personal growth you are committed to accomplishing.
